Kangana Ranaut Sells mumbai Bungalow Due to Financial Strain from Film Delays
At the News18 india Chaupal event in New Delhi, kangana ranaut confirmed that she has sold her mumbai bungalow in Pali Hill, Bandra. The actress disclosed that the decision was driven by financial losses incurred from the delayed release of her film Emergency.
Ranaut explained, “Naturally, my film was supposed to be released. I put all my personal property on it. Now that it’s not released, so anyway, that’s what properties are for – for times of crisis.”
Details on the Property Sale
According to reports, kangana sold the property for ₹32 crore. She had originally purchased it for ₹20.7 crore in september 2017. Additionally, she had taken a ₹27 crore loan from icici bank against the property in december 2022. The bungalow served as the office for her production company, manikarnika Films.
This property was previously embroiled in controversy. In september 2020, parts of Kangana’s office were demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for alleged illegal construction. The demolition was halted midway by a stay order from the bombay High Court. kangana subsequently filed a case against the BMC and demanded ₹2 crore in compensation, though she dropped the claim in May 2023.
Challenges for Emergency
Kangana’s film Emergency, which was scheduled for release on september 6, data-faced delays due to pending approval from the censor board and calls for boycotts from various groups. Some Sikh organizations have accused the film of misrepresenting their community. kangana defended the film, stating it had received certification from the censor board and had been supervised by four historians. She asserted that the film is based on historical facts and dismissed the claims that it portrays certain figures negatively.
At the event, kangana remarked, “It is our history which has been intentionally hidden. We are not told about this. Bhale logo ka zamaana nahi hai.” She also mentioned receiving threats related to the film, noting that previous governments have declared figures like Bhindranwale as terrorists, contrasting this with some current perceptions of him.
