Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, Telangana's director of Public health, sparked a scuffle by touching chief minister K. chandrasekhar Rao's feet. During an event at the Chief Minister's official residence on Tuesday, the health Department's top official was observed stroking the Chief Minister's feet not once, but twice. On Thursday, a video footage of the incident went viral. The occasion was the Chief Minister's announcement of the opening of eight new government medical colleges.
Srinivasa Rao was spotted greeting the chief minister with a bouquet as soon as he entered the auditorium where the function was being held. The official then removed a piece of paper from his trouser pocket and handed it to the cm, who placed it in his shirt pocket. He then knelt down to touch KCR's feet. Srinivasa Rao was then seen begging with him, hands clasped. Not content with that, he touched KCR's feet again as he was leaving and made another request with folded hands.
It was unclear what the official's written and oral requests were, but there have been rumours that he is attempting to obtain a trs ticket to run in the next assembly election. The official's actions have garnered criticism from a variety of sources. Opposition parties and internet users termed it a sycophantic move. Despite Srinivasa Rao's repeated appeals and touching of feet, the ticket for the khammam seat has not been guaranteed, according to a few netizens. P. Venkatramana Reddy, then district Collector of Siddipet, created outrage last june when he touched the Chief Minister's feet during the inauguration of the Collector's new building. He took voluntary retirement five months late to enter politics, and kcr appointed him to the telangana Legislative Council.
