Ram Nath Kovind, indian President who began his career as a lawyer before becoming a member of the rajya sabha and then the governor of Bihar. We examine some lesser-known facts about the President and his distinguished career in this article.
His father owned a small food shop in addition to being a farmer. When he was a youngster, his mother died. kanpur University awarded him degrees in commerce and law.
After that, Kovind travelled to delhi to sit the civil service test. Despite passing the exam, he chose to proceed with a career in law and was accepted to the Bar Council of india in 1971. Until 1993, he practised in the delhi High court and supreme court for nearly 16 years. He was the Union Government's adviser in the delhi High court between 1977 to 1979, he was the Union Government's counsel in the delhi High Court. He ascended through the ranks of the supreme court of india to become an Advocate-on-Record in 1978. He was the Union Government's supreme court Standing Counsel from 1980 until 1993. He also aided the disadvantaged sectors of society via the Free Legal Aid Society of New Delhi.
He worked as the private secretary of then-Prime minister Morarji Desai before joining the bjp in 1977. At the United Nations, Kovind represented India. In october 2002, he delivered a speech at the United Nations General Assembly. Kovind has donated his ancestral home in Paraunkh, his hometown, to be used as a wedding hall.
