Supreme court has slammed the Center's policy of giving free vaccination to the 45+ people age group. The entire Nation is now facing a shortage of Vaccination and several states are demanding more vaccination right now. The supreme court heard a detailed order regarding the vaccines available today and it also asked to provide a roadmap on the projected availability of vaccines till 31 december 2021.

The court will hear the case again on june 30th. The government has said it will vaccinate the eligible population by december this year. The court also asked the center to highlight the pricing issue of vaccines and to make a submission on the comparison of prices of vaccines available in india to international prices. It has been said by many critics that in india, 18-44-year-olds are paying record prices for vaccines.

In most nations, vaccines are procured by the governments and distributed to the people at no cost. Due to the new variant of COVID, there is a new situation where the younger age group also needs to be vaccinated, but the priority may change based on the scientific basis. The Centre was asked to clarify how the ₹ 35,000-crore budget for vaccine procurement is being spent.
