The Ministry of Railways has decided to run hydrogen gas trains to protect the environment. The Union government has decided to reduce greenhouse gas emissions under the 2015 paris Climate Agreement. Similarly, the railway administration has already decided to transform rail transport into carbon-free green transport by 2030.

The contract seeks to implement the project in a series of trains with diesel-powered engines on both sides. Through this project, it is possible to reduce fuel costs by Rs 2 crore to Rs 30 lakh. It should be noted that the World's First Hydrogen train was launched in germany during the year 2018 and it was named Coradia iLint.

During the launch, it was confirmed that Hydrogen train is the future and that was built by Alstom, a French train-builder company, and the train operated on a 63 mile stretch of line in North Germany. The main advantage is the locomotives are eco-friendly and the only disadvantage in these Hydrogen-Powered trains is that they are very very expensive than the normal fossil fuel-based trains, but at the same time, hydrogen-powered trains are very cheaper to run and they have many advantages as they can easily be refueled.
