Sanak Review - More Focus on Action and Less on Content..!
Sanak's plot is similar to that of a slew of other films in which the hero must save the love of his life from the evil guys. Yes, the setting could be different in this case, with the hospital serving as the focal point. Unfortunately, the only thing this movie has going for it is 'action.' It began on a promising note, with the first few scenes promising to watch a potentially fantastic plot unfold on screen, but after the bad guy Saju, played by Chandan Roy Sanyal, entered the picture, all that was left to see were fight scenarios.
There are primarily two types of movies produced: those that rely on substance and those that rely on components. Sanak, directed by Kanishk Varma, is in the second column. The main characters in this hospital hostage drama are Vivaan (Vidyut Jammwal), an MMA (mixed martial arts) coach, and his spouse Anshika (Rukmini Maitra). The latter gets admitted due to a heart ailment, and just as things appear to be looking better for the pair, her hospital is assaulted by a group of terrorists. As a result, Anshika becomes a captive, and Vivaan is tasked with rescuing his lady love.
Two moments stand out in particular: one in which Vidyut defends himself with the rim of a tyre, and another in the physiotherapy room, where many items are cleverly used to make the fight distinctive and effective. Both sequences are well-shot, and Vidyut manages to make them seem realistic. The camera crew performs an excellent job with some of the pictures, while Saurabh Bhalerao's background music accentuates the action sequences. If you enjoy mindless action, Sanak is the game for you!
