Ravichandran Ashwin: Breaks Record, 3rd Highest Wicket Taker...!

Bangalore: The first Test match between india and new zealand has reached its climax as the hosts take on Team India. 


In the second innings of the match, Team india star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin equaled the record set by senior off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. 


Team india won the first Test match between india and new zealand at the Green Park in kanpur on saturday with a tough target of 284 runs.

Shreyas Iyer (65), Vriddhiman Saha (61 *), and Ravichandran Ashwin (32) declared their innings with 237/7 in the middle order. 


Chasing a hard target of 284 by Team india, new zealand was shocked at the end of the fourth day when Will Young, who scored 89 in the first innings, gave up a wicket to Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ravichandran Ashwin equaled the record of the highest wicket-taker (417) with veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh. 


In addition, Ashwin and Bhajji are jointly ranked third in the list of highest wicket-takers in india in Test cricket.


Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who played 103 Tests, took 417 wickets in 190 innings. But Ravichandran Ashwin, who is based in tamil Nadu, has now set a record of 150 Test innings in 80 Test matches.

Anil Kumble, now the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket for india, holds the record. Leg spinner Anil Kumble has taken 619 wickets in 132 matches. Former captain kapil dev is second on the list with 134 wickets.


Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan holds the record for the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. He is the first batsman to take 800 wickets in 133 Tests.
