A study published in the Lancet Journal found that the protection provided by the Oxford-Estrogen Corona vaccine was reduced to three months after two doses. This is based on statistics collected in brazil and Scotland.
The vaccine is recognized in india under the name Covishield. Researchers also say that data need to be included in any precautionary measures against the virus. professor Srinivas Vithal Katikireddy, who was involved, said that their research illustrates the importance of booster doses. The indian government should start giving booster doses as soon as it realizes that protection is declining. It is said that the protection given by Oxford-Astra Zeneca will wane in three months which makes the booster vaccine to be given soon.
The severity of the infection will also increase more after the three months post the Covishield jab.
The risk of deaths and hospitalization is twice when to compared to after two weeks. The death and hospitalizations risks increase threefold after four months of the vaccine. Crores of people are vulnerable even after being fully vaccinated with two doses of Covishied. Already the new variant Omicron has spread to 15 states in India.
