The decision was taken in a meeting with the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of all the states. Doctors are calling off their strike after 12 o'clock on Friday.

Resident doctors' protests have intensified due to the non-starting of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2021 counselling process. This protest is being held under the banner of the Resident Doctors' Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA).

The protesters were demanding that the EWS (Economical Weaker Section) and OBC (Other Backward Classes) reservation should be heard fast in the supreme court and the counselling process should be started.

Why is there a delay in the counselling process?

A hearing is going on in the supreme court regarding NEET PG counselling regarding OBC and EWS reservation.

The government had decided to give 27 per cent OBC and 10 per cent reservation in NEET PG to economically backward classes, which has been challenged by some medical students. The protesters have challenged the validity of reservation for the EWS and OBC category in NEET PG.

The protesters demand that keeping people with annual income up to Rs 8 lakh in the definition of a low-income group is an arbitrary decision. The court has sought a response from the government on this issue. , in which all the issues were kept. However, the response of the government was not satisfactory.
