The tamil Nadu government has indicated that all attempts will be made to re-pass the NEET Exemption Bill in the assembly, and a meeting of all party leaders in the assembly will be held on the 5th to discuss and deliberate on the next actions to be taken in this regard. In this regard, the tamil Nadu government released the following statement today:
On september 13, 2021, the tamil Nadu assembly passed a bill exempting medical students from the NEET examination, which was forwarded to the governor for approval by the President, and then to the Union Government. The chief minister visited with the governor in person and asked him to deliver the bill right away because it had not been forwarded by the Governor.
However, because the Bill has not been forwarded to the Union government, according to a news statement from the Governor's Office, the governor has requested that the Bill be revisited by the tamil Nadu Legislative assembly on 1-2-2022. It was also said that the bill seeking NEET exemption was against the interests of rural poor students, and that the supreme court had accepted the NEET selection in the case of the Christian Medical College, preserving social justice and avoiding poor students' exploitation.
