Looop Lapeta Movie Review - A Perfect Fun Filled Entertainer for Family

SIBY JEYYA
Taapsee Pannu has been on the go a lot lately. In rashmi Rocket, she's zipping over the white sandy beaches of the Rann of Kutch, while in Haseen Dillruba, she's escaping the law. In Aakash Bhatia's Looop Lapeta, which is currently available on Netflix, she rushes and runs to save Tahir raj Bhasin. Looop Lapeta is a riveting adaptation of Run Lola Run that delivers no surprises in regards of the ending. We attribute this to Aakash Bhatia's odd indian mythological spin - some may disapprove, but the majority will embrace.

Savi (Taapsee) is a sprinter, a reincarnation of her rashmi Rocket persona if things had gone wrong in that world, who is now trying to accept the truth that she can never run again after a terrible accident ruined her knee. She considers committing herself by jumping from the hospital terrace where she has been hospitalized. When Satya (Tahir) enters her world and the balcony, attempting to light a cigarette with a moist maachis ki teeli, she leans over the edge, her life flashing before her sight in animation - a hat tip to Run Lola Run right there - Sparks fly, and both of their lifestyles are turned upside down.

The background of these lovers is not revealed in the classic Run Lola Run. But Looop Lapeta does, and it subsequently helps to explain how an ordinary girl like Savi can run across Goa's streets to save Satya. Satya, like Maani, is shady, always gets himself into problems, and has a gambling addiction. Savi makes him vow that he will never enter a casino again. He accepts, but danger finds him anyhow. He misplaces a bag containing Rs 50 lakh that was supposed to be handed to Victor (Dibyendu Bhattacharya) on the bus - rather than the metro in the original - and now he's actually counting down the hours till he's sliced up for this blunder.

Taapsee Pannu's performance is largely faultless. She's gotten to the point where she's her own opponent, and she reigns supreme. Tahir raj Bhasin was fantastic in this film. Tahir is now receiving his due with Looop Lapeta and Kaali Kaali Ankhein before that, after a truly thanda show like Ranjish Hi Sahi (both on Netflix). Since Mardaani, he's been standing at the doorway for far too long. Julia was played by Shreya Dhanwanthary, who had a little part but was given a speech that she executed flawlessly. The funny storyline, as well as the use of retro and neon colours, give the film an extra edge.

Overall, You'll love Looop Lapeta if you think of it as a compliment to Run Lola Run rather than a remake.
