Conduct Elections Again is the Solution? says Haasan

The leader of the People's Justice Center, Kamal Haasan, believes that cancelling the urban local elections and holding a re-election would be fair. The ruling DMK and the cash-strapped AIADMK have insulted electoral democracy in tamil Nadu, he said on his social media page. All of the wards received money and presents.

Candidates were fearful. On their route to the campaign, they were battered and pursued. On election day, money was distributed at the polling booth. As the ultimate injustice, it has also been discovered that bogus ballots have been registered by shutting the polling booth doors. Officials in charge of elections have been unable to prevent these acts of destabilisation of democracy. They tried to provide money to opposition candidates who came to register their ballots thinking they were voters, which was a cruel prank. Corporations that strive to grab local power and absorb people's money have made democracy a victim.

With proof of electoral irregularities, we filed a complaint with the State election Commission. It would be fair to postpone the municipal elections in cities and organise a new election. The People's Justice Center (PJC) party's top executives and candidates surrounded the tamil Nadu State Voting Commission in Arumbakkam, Chennai, this morning, alleging election irregularities and fraudulent ballots cast in tamil Nadu by 5 p.m. They also screamed chants criticising the election commission for blindfolding the candidates.
