In the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the bjp achieved a huge victory and held control. Despite winning more seats, the main opposition Samajwadi party did not take power. Meanwhile, Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj party, which was once a dominant political force in the state, has suffered a major electoral defeat. The party, which won 19 seats in the previous election, has only one seat this time around.

With 12.88 percent of the vote, the party was elected. In eastern Uttar Pradesh, the bjp has some clout. The Dalit vote swung to the bjp in western Uttar Pradesh, including Agra. According to political commentators, the party is still alive in Uttar Pradesh, despite winning only one seat, with more than 12% of the vote and a separate vote bank.

In this election, the Dalit community's votes were expected to be totally available to the BJP. However, the Bahujan Samaj party did not receive all of those votes. Mayawati's electoral performance was unexpected. mayawati began her campaign late, as all of the parties campaigned hard. Mayawati's detractors mocked her as "absent" in the run-up to the Uttar Pradesh elections. Others mocked the bjp, calling it a B-team.
