Gruesome Accident as Van Hits Lorry - 3 Dead and 27 Injured

A private tannery in the Kannikapuram neighbourhood of Ambur circle, tirupati district, employs more than 1,500 people. On behalf of the factory management, a van has been organised to pick up the women who work there. The factory van used to pick up ladies working in the plant from various locations on its way to Ambur and Vaniyambadi. As a result, this morning a van carrying 30 female workers from Vaniyambadi Nekkundi left for Ambur.

Raman (36) of Vadacherry, near Ambur, was the driver of the van. The van was travelling near Solapur in Ambur Circle on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway when the driver lost control of the vehicle and fled, breaking the barricades and driving in the opposite direction. A lorry transporting lime bundles from chennai to Bangalore collided with the van. The van was entirely destroyed and ruined as a result of this. Raman, the van driver, died on the spot. Pavanammal (30) and Purnima (19), a construction worker from the Nekkundi area, were also murdered in the event while sitting in the front seat of the vehicle. All of the female passengers in the van were hurt.

Drivers who took to the road instantly began rescuing the women who had been engaged in the collision one by one. The village police and traffic police, commanded by Ambur Deputy Superintendent of police Saravanan, hurried to the scene after receiving information about the accident and carried out rescue operations. Ambulances took the injured to Ambur government Hospital.
