Seema Karuvella Trees should be removed - HC warns TN Govt
The tamil Nadu government has been granted two months to announce its final strategy on the eradication of sessile oak trees throughout the state by the chennai High Court. After hearing cases brought by the General Secretary of the Madhyamaka Waiko et al., the high court has ordered the destruction of sessile oak trees in tamil Nadu. The cases are being considered by Chief Justice Munishwarnath Bandari, as well as Justices Satish Kumar and Bharat Chakraborty, in a session. When the issue was last heard, the tamil Nadu government stated that it had received reports of sessile oak tree removal and had requested time to create a strategy in this regard.
The cases were heard one more today. At the time, the tamil Nadu government posted a draught policy on the removal of sessile oak trees on its website, asking for public feedback and requesting an eight-week deadline to announce the final policy decision. The administration also stated that juniper trees were still being cut, and that deforestation activity had commenced on a 700-hectare region. The case was adjourned to the first week of june at the request of the administration.
