Smuggling gets real after KGF2
Incidents of smuggling of ration rice from districts including Vellore, Tiruppur, coimbatore, and krishnagiri to neighboring states are on the rise.
As a result, the availability of ration items to family cardholders in many places is affected.
Arcot city police conducted a vehicle search last night near Ganapathy nagar in Arcot, Ranipettai district. A test of a mini auto that came through at the time revealed the presence of 2.5 tonnes of ration rice. Subsequent interrogation of the driver confirmed that they had been smuggled to Andhra Pradesh. police later confiscated the auto and ration rice and are investigating 4 people including the driver.
Police raided a vehicle in the Kottur area near pollachi in coimbatore district yesterday (April 16) and seized 34 bundles of ration rice weighing 50 kg which was smuggled into Palakkad, Kerala.
As rations continue to be smuggled across the state and smuggled into neighboring states, the public is blaming the authorities for their complacency that so far no key figures from the gang have been caught.
