6 Tonnes of Ration Rice Smuggled - Police caught Red Handed

Four people were caught near Thiruvannamalai for attempting to smuggle 6 tonnes of ration rice to Namakkal in three vehicles. Ration rice was to be stored at the Kolakudi hamlet near Veraiyur in the Thiruvannamalai district and moved to Namakkal district in trucks, according to information received by the Veraiyur police at midnight yesterday. The Veraiyur police conducted a search in the Kolakudi village in that name. During the search, officers discovered 6 tonnes of ration rice bundles in three trucks that had been parked under suspicion. Following that, four people in three vehicles were arrested and questioned.


Pichandi (46), a resident of Thimalai's Thiruvalluvar Street, was the casualty. He was discovered to be driving a truck. The Veraiyur police then turned over 6 tonnes of ration rice, three lorries, and four people to the Thimalai district Civil Trafficking Prevention Unit. He then filed a complaint and arrested four people. They also seized 6 tonnes of rice and three smuggling trucks.
