Is Yarlagadda In Touch With TDP?

Yarlagadda Venkatrao, a leading member of the ruling ysr congress from the gannavaram Assembly constituency in krishna district, is rumoured to be considering a switch to the opposition tdp for the 2024 elections. Venkatrao sees no reason for him to run because tdp MLA vallabhaneni vamsi has switched to the ysr congress and would be the party's candidate in the next election.
In 2019, Venkatrao narrowly lost his seat to vamsi by 990 votes. He ran as a candidate for the ysr congress and received 1,02,714 votes, while tdp nominee vamsi received 1,03,704 votes. When vamsi became a member of the ysr congress, Venkatrao objected to his entrance. He was appointed chairman of the KDCC bank by then-chief minister Jagan. However, it is reported that he is dissatisfied with the ysr Congress's preference for vamsi in the constituency.
Vamsi is a strong contender for the gannavaram seat, having won it twice — in 2014 and 2019. In 2009, vamsi ran for the vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency against Lagadapati Rajagopal, but was defeated by a margin of less than 12,000 votes. In the 2024 elections, jagan Mohan reddy is likely to favour vamsi to Venkatrao based on his track record and likelihood of winning. In light of this, Venkatrao has been in contact with tdp president N chandrababu naidu and is expected to join the party at any time.
