ADMK Boycotts Local Body Elections due to OPS vs EPS tussle

Due to issues getting the twin leaves symbol, AIADMK boycotted the by-elections. elections for the vacant local bodies in tamil Nadu will take place on July 9 according to the State election Commission. elections are therefore being held for a total of 510 positions. The application period for these positions began on january 20 and ended on january 27. The deadline to remove nominations is today. 34 of the 510 seats will be decided by party in the upcoming elections. Due to the one AIADMK leadership issue that has come up, disagreement between the co-ordinators over the approval of party candidates and the signing of Form A and Form B has persisted.

The 27th saw the conclusion of the examination of candidate nominations for local body elections. The deadline to withdraw your nomination is today. According to the election Commission, the symbol will be assigned if the forms are turned in before the withdrawal time closes. Independent candidates will receive symbols after the deadline for withdrawing nominations expires at 3 p.m. today. The double leaf insignia shall only be given to AIADMK candidates with the party leadership's signature and approval, as has been agreed. The AIADMK is in this instance abstaining from the municipal elections because they were unable to obtain the double leaves symbol.
