Rise Review: An Emotional & Charming Tale About The Rise Of NBA Legends
Rise follows the Antetokounmpo brothers, including Giannis (Uche Agada), Thanasis (Ral Agada), Kostas (Jaden Osimuwa), Alex, and Francis Antetokounmpo (Anthony Abiola), who are all active NBA players. However, it also focuses equally on their parents, Charlie (Dayo Okeniyi) and Veronica "Vera" Antetokounmpo (Yetide Badaki). The boys' parents' ambition of giving their family the ideal life and their hard work to make it a reality are brilliantly depicted in the novel. The film's script by Arash Amel and direction by Akin Omotoso provide an unvarnished look at the depth of Greek bigotry and the racial anti-immigrant mentality that lies at Antetokounmpo's doorstep.
Greece's stunning natural beauty and the pernicious underbelly of society are both captured by Omotoso's vision. It is understandable why greece would seem to be the haven many refugees and immigrants seek despite the nation's obvious hostility and danger. The good and the terrible that come with being an immigrant in such a country are expertly balanced, and it is represented onscreen in a very honest way. Although the scenario is not romanticised, the basic strategy is fair. This author can honestly declare that the contradicting nature of the immigrant experience will never go away because she is an immigrant herself. Darkness cannot be avoided, but there is always beauty to see. Rise is a truthful portrayal of these
The movie works effectively as a whole. The music by Ré Olunuga complements this intensely emotional journey in just the right ways. Vera and Charlie's and Charlie's costumes in particular perfectly capture the family's Nigerian pride and enthusiasm. The young actors cast as the Antetokounmpo brothers provide a lot of emotion and depth to this story, and the casting overall is excellent. It is also comforting to know that Nigerian performers portray the Nigerian family, adding realism to this specific tale. The winning appeal of Rise is difficult to miss. It's a good sports biography that attempts to honour the Antetokounmpos' treasured memories and their ongoing achievement as a loving, unified family.
