Hit Or Flop, OTT Bends Them All?

All that the movie makers want is for their films to have a protracted successful run in theatres. But recent events appear to have changed a lot of things. Regardless of a film's performance or theatrical release date, OTT platforms have the power to determine when it will be available digitally.
When considering recent films, we have Ante Sundharaniki, which was released on june 10th, and whose director, vivek Athreya, guaranteed us all during the film's promotion that it would not be on OTT anytime soon. But just 30 days after its publication, on July 10, Ante Sundharaniki will be available digitally. Despite being a family entertainer, Ante Sundharaniki has struggled in the marketplace for a variety of reasons.
Vikram, played by Kamal Haasan, is not comparable. The film, which has the largest box office haul of all time, will debut on OTT on July 8. Only 30 days after its theatrical premiere, Adivi Sesh's Major was also made available on OTT. Although the filmmakers and OTT platforms agreed that the movies would only be available on OTT 50 days following their theatrical debut, the implementation of this agreement seems to be challenging.
It was impossible to delay the release of the two biggest blockbusters, rrr and KGF, for longer than two months. There is a perception that medium-budget movies don't have many options. The producers should be prepared to lose a lot of money on their OTT arrangements if they make demands like this. Any demand or action that results in financial loss for a movie, regardless of its form, is not a good one. Therefore, the creators are adaptable at the moment while still making OTT release guarantees. How long this OTT demand lasts must be seen.
