Supreme defeats Jagan!!
The jagan government has been defeated in the supreme Court. The supreme court has ruled that the funds diverted by the jagan government from the State Disaster Management Fund (SDRF) to the personal accounts of the Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture should be re-deposited.
SDRF decided not to divert funds. The government has directly asked what they will do if the fourth wave of Corona comes. She asked what the situation would be if there were no funds. She stated that who knows what will happen in the future. It has been clarified that the diverted funds have to be credited back to the SDRF account.
Meanwhile, tdp leader Palla Srinivasa Rao has filed a petition in the supreme court that the jagan government has diverted the SDRF funds to the tune of Rs.1100 crores to be used for Corona control. A two-judge bench comprising Justice MR Shah and Justice BV Nagaratna heard the petition. The CAG examined the affidavit submitted on the diversion of funds.
But the state government has argued that these funds are available before march 2020. In response to that, the bench made it clear that SDRF funds should not be diverted to other programs even if the funds are available. .
Advocate Basant Kumar, appearing for the state government, argued that the state government had transferred the SDRF funds to the Personal Deposit Account (PDA) of the Commissionerate of Agriculture for input subsidy in the wake of drought. Basant argued that Corona has nothing to do with these funds. With this, the intervention tribunal said that SDRF funds should be used for what they are supposed to be used for.
The court directed that the funds be re-deposited in the SDRF to be used if needed in the future but for now. While the lawyer pleaded that the state government would be contacted and told... the further hearing was postponed to July 13 without issuing an order.
