N v Ramana, the Chief Justice of India, presented a farewell gift to the journalists of hyderabad on the day before he resigned from his position upon reaching the age of superannuation. The CJI issued the much expected decision on thursday approving the distribution of plots to the hyderabad journalists who have been engaged in a protracted legal battle before the supreme Court. The supreme court was deliberating a matter involving the distribution of plots in hyderabad to journalists, government employees, MLAs, MPs, and MLCs by the previous Y S Rajasekhar reddy administration.

Justice Ramana, who delivered the ruling, stated that the distribution of plots to the media should not be connected to the IAS officers and people's representatives, who were in a position to benefit monetarily. "More than 12 years ago, the then-Andhra Pradesh government gave the journalists a plot of land. I don't want to discuss elected officials or IAS and IPS officers. Why should journalists, who are part-time workers, endure such hardship for so long? he questioned. He claimed that the court has considered the arguments of about 8,000 journalists, who make between Rs 8,000 and Rs 50,000 per month.
