Anantapur cops book SC/ST case against own SP!
Anantapur police on wednesday filed a complaint against their own superintendent of police, Dr. K. Fakkeerappa, for allegedly firing armed reserve police officer K. Prakash on spurious grounds. This is likely a first-of-its-kind occurrence. Based on a report made by Prakash, the case was registered at the Anantapur two-town police station. The district's assistant superintendent of police Hanumanthappa and deputy superintendent of police at the central crime station Mahaboob Basha were also charged with crimes.
In addition to the SC/ST (prevention of atrocities) Act, cases were filed against the SP and two other people under Sections 167, 177, and 182 of the indian Penal Code. Inspector Shivaramudu stated that a DIG rank office would investigate the SP. Prakash recently gained attention for his protest outside the monument honouring police martyrs on the grounds of the district police headquarters, in which he claimed that the government is failing to pay the police department's debts. He carried a sign that read, "AP cm Jagan Sir.. Save ap police, Pay SLS and ASLS Arrears, and Promote Social Justice.
In connection with a cheating case filed against Prakash in Garladinne of the Anantapur district in 2019 as a result of a complaint made by a woman named B lakshmi, Fakkerappa issued orders dismissing him from service on Monday. He claimed that constable Prakash is the subject of six criminal cases. On the other hand, lakshmi informed the media on tuesday that she had not filed any complaints against Prakash and that the police had obtained her signature against her will in order to target him.
