Telangana says Centre owes it over Rs 1 lakh crore
According to T. Harish Rao, the finance minister for Telangana, the Union government owes the state approximately Rs 1 lakh crore in unpaid grants, cash, and compensation. He informed the assembly that the state owes the Centre Rs. 1,05,812 and that if the funds are given, it will be able to pay off one-third of its total debt of Rs. 3.29 lakh crore. In response to the brief discussion on "Central government dual policy in execution of FRBM Act - Impact on state success," he stated that if the Center provides these monies, the state would not even be necessary to issue new debt.

He rejected the BJP's criticism of the state's indebtedness and asserted that, in contrast to the Union government, which borrowed money to pay off its obligations, the state government used the borrowed money to invest in capital projects and build assets.
