Prestige Issue for Jagan Mohan Reddy
The state bjp, which has been promoting Amaravati, would suffer politically if Modi made any commitments on Visakhapatnam. The bjp leadership is reportedly lobbying in New delhi to have the public meeting called off and to limit Modi's programmes to official events because of this.
Even the telugu desam party is reportedly of the opinion that Modi's public meeting would push the YSRC closer to the national leadership of the saffron party, which will impact its future ambitions to form an alliance with the bjp and Jana Sena combination. In order to have the public meeting called off, it is also utilising its own good will to negotiate with the delhi bjp leaders. However, no bjp leader has the authority to alter Modi's timetable. Let's wait and see what happens over the following few days.
