According to data from the US State Department, the current wait time for an interview for B1/B2 visa applicants in mumbai is 999 days. This is 994 days in Hyderabad, 961 days in Delhi, 948 days in Chennai, and 904 days in Kolkata.As this waiting period has increased, so have grandparents, mothers, and fathers who are waiting to see their sons, daughters, and grandchildren. Similarly, new or young entrepreneurs who suddenly need to get a visa to do business will suffer. The waiting period for US visa applicants in india has shockingly approached three years for the first time. A first-time B1/B2 visa applicant can data-face an interview only in late 2025.When US Embassy officials were asked what people should do in this situation, they should continue to apply so that those in the queue can move forward. This is followed by expedited drop-box applications for skilled workers, followed by repeat B1/B2 visa applicants (who are eligible for an interview waiver if their visa expires within four years of visa application).To correct this as the visa interview period increases, the US has made more applicants eligible for interview waivers. These are treated as dropbox cases and sent abroad and approved with temporary staff.
