The government is taking various measures to continuously monitor the increasing number of corona infections in India. Especially, those coming to india from many countries including china, the USA, and japan are subjected to corona tests and medical examinations at the airport. In that way, while the Omicron BF.7 corona infection type that had a great impact in china has also spread to some extent in india, in order to detect it, it is now necessary to analyze the test samples of those who are confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus and to identify the type of infection by genetic sequencing.
In this case, the state health department announced yesterday (Dec 4) that Omicron BF.7 infection has been detected in four people who have been infected with the coronavirus in West Bengal. It is also reported that these four have come to india from America. In this regard, a senior official of the West bengal health Department said that the four who were affected by the new type of infection are healthy and now they have been confirmed free of corona infection. He said that three of the four are from the state's Nadia district, while another is from bihar but is now living in West Bengal.
At the kolkata airport, two people, including a foreign passenger, were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus, but a few days later they were found to be infected with the Omicron BF.7 virus. Currently, the capital city of delhi is also experiencing a slight increase in the number of corona cases. It was reported that 6 new cases of infection have occurred yesterday.
The World health Organization has pointed out that china is not sharing complete information about the coronavirus. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World health Organization, said that china should share more details about the coronavirus, including the current number of cases in china, hospitalization rates, genetic sequences, and to underline the importance of sharing with Chinese officials.
