Today, the first day of Thai Thirunal, jallikattu competitions started with a bang in Avaniyapuram, Madurai. More than 800 bulls and more than 300 cowherd players are competing in the field. The Jallikattu competition which started in the morning was inaugurated by the district Collector with an oath. All the bulls participating in this jallikattu competition will be given gold coins on behalf of minister Murthy.

From the moment the bulls were untied, the trap started flying in the field. The players have been given purple, yellow and orange uniforms in various rounds of the tournament. The players also waited with great anticipation in the attempt to tame the bulls. The Jallikattu players deftly caught the vikram bull which was the first to charge. 

However, there is no dearth of excitement in the Avaniyapuram Jallikattu as bulls and players are ready to go head to head. Instant prizes are being awarded to taming bulls. Bureaus, beds, gold and silver coins, bicycles and two-wheelers are bet. As soon as it is announced that this bull is a prize if caught, there is an uproar, players rushed to catch and tame the bull. 

At the end of the first round of the Jallikattu competition in madurai Avaniyapuram, 5 people were seriously injured and 5 people were slightly injured.
