Scientists have discovered a mysterious object in space. It appears to be several million times brighter than the Sun. About 380 million light-years away from Earth, one type of supernova is reported to be 57 billion times brighter than the Sun. However, it is so far away that we cannot see it. But the energy emanating from it is so strong that it can burn anything to ashes. Scientists call it a ball of hot gases. But more research is being done to get a clearer picture of what it actually is. Some call it a supernova, others call it something else. However, most space scientists consider it to be a type of supernova. It is the most distant supernova ever discovered. It is said to be very powerful and very, very fast.
This gas sphere was first observed by the Automated survey of Supernova Sky (ASAS-SN, a network of telescopes). So far the network has discovered more than 250 supernovae.
The job of this network is to find out what objects exist in space. It is the largest supernova ever detected by the ASAS-SN instrument. It is 200 times more luminous than a normal supernova. Even if all the stars in space were collected, they wouldn't be larger than a supernova data-size.
Scientists attribute its brightness to its strong magnetic field. They also say it is a group of cubic stars. Its magnetic field is believed to be very strong. So it spins very fast. That's why it looks so bright, scientists say. Scientists are currently conducting further research to understand this puzzling mystery.
