Women who want to buy a sewing machine under the scheme of providing free sewing machines to women should fill out the application form and send it by tomorrow. The government of tamil Nadu is implementing a scheme to provide a 'free sewing machine' to destitute widows, women abandoned by their husbands, and economically weak women to become self-employed and improve their livelihood. Lakhs of women have benefited from this scheme for more than 30 years.
In the financial year 2021-22 alone, sewing machines were provided to 2,250 women at a cost of Rs.1.35 crore. In this case, chennai district government Chairman amrita Jyoti said that applications are being accepted under the program of providing sewing machines through the chennai district Social Welfare Office.
It has been informed that women between 20 to 40 years of age can apply to benefit from this scheme. Applicants must have received tailoring training from a registered tailoring institute. Annual family income proof should be below Rs.72,000. The application form for this can be obtained from the office of South chennai district Social Welfare, district Collector office, Singaravelar House, 8th Floor, Rajajisalai, Chennai- 01.
It has been informed that the application should be completed and submitted along with proof of residence, an Aadhaar card, 2 photographs, income proof, caste proof, and age proof by the 6th.
