Quarter and half bottles of liquor, which were so far only available in wine shops, will now be available in bars as well. For this, the Excise Department has brought a change in the rules. It has amended several provisions to provide a financial boost to bars as well. It seems that 1,172 bars in the state, which are in financial crisis after Corona, have made changes in the rules with the intention of sustaining themselves financially.
As part of that, the process of bar licensing has also been simplified. It has also taken measures like a reduction of bank guarantees and flexibility in license fee payments. It seems likely that the orders regarding these will be issued very soon. According to the new orders, in bars and restaurants, quarter and half bottles will be available. However, all wine shop owners are very sad with this decision. If these bottles are available in bars and restaurants, their sales will surely decrease. But Excise Department says that under 2B licenses, Star Hotels are already getting those bottles. It states that these rules are now for all regular bars and restaurants.
