Export of 500 MT of Melon from Bochampalli Processing Plant
Collector KM sarayu inspected here. At that time the collector said: In Bochampalli primary processing plant, quick freezing room, boiling water and steam processing technology room, radiation processing room, ripening room, cold storage, grading room and weighing platform are in use. Vegetables and fruits are processed for value addition and exported through primary processing plant and quick packing plant.
Already 6 to 7 metric tons of coconuts were being processed and exported at the rate of value addition per day. Also, mangoes are processed (freezing temperature minus 40°C) and exported at 10-15 tonnes per day.
Similarly, 500 metric tons of melons have been processed and exported for the last one year. The Irradiation Processing Plant is currently licensed for processing aromatics and is ready for operation. By this all the farmers, entrepreneurs and farmer producer companies around Pochampally are benefiting. The collector said.
Deputy director of Agriculture Commercial Department Kalimuthu, Agriculture Officer Mummoorthy Cholan, Assistant Agriculture Officer Kumar, Chief Processing Center Officer Jeevanandhan, Radiological Protection Officer Sivanthan, district collector Thenmozhi and others were present during the inspection.
