OPS Blames DMK for not maintaining Amma Unavagam

S Venkateshwari
O. Panneerselvam alleged that "after the DMK took charge, Amma restaurants are lying idle. Amma restaurants are not providing funds for their operation, firing the employees there, and not providing facilities, etc."

In a statement issued by him in this regard, "According to Valluvar's promise that the world will worship a king who embraces and protects the people, the late chief minister Jayalalithaa, who knew the needs of tamil Nadu, felt the pulse of the people of tamil Nadu and implemented many schemes accordingly, saved the people of tamil Nadu, especially the poor people, the working people from the brutal attack of price hike. , created Amma restaurants in urban areas, especially in chennai, to cater to the working class working on a daily wage basis, providing quality food at affordable prices.More than 300 Amma restaurants were operating successfully in chennai alone.

After the DMK came to power, Amma restaurants are lying idle. Amma restaurants have seen a decline in their operations due to non-funding, layoffs, and lack of facilities. The food sold in Amma restaurants is not of good quality, tasty and hygienic and the food is prepared in small quantities. Due to this, the number of diners has decreased significantly. Many places have food shortages. Unsanitary conditions prevail in most places.

For example, there have been reports in the press that the drinking water tank in Amma Restaurant on Bharti Road, Rayapetta, chennai, has been broken for the last two years, the drinking water supply to the restaurant has been stopped, and liquor bottles are piling up. Similarly, Amma restaurant in Icehouse area is said to have a broken refrigerator and is useless, it is dark at night due to non-functioning electric lights and electric fans and it looks like a den of dogs.

There are reports that Amma restaurant in Thiruvallikeni Venkatrangam street is showing sewage center and the motor is broken and same is the case in Amma restaurant in Kasthuribai Hospital. All these areas come under minister Udayanidhi Stalin's Constituency Chepakkam- Tiruvallikeni. This is the situation in all Amma restaurants.

There were reports in the press that in the financial report of the chennai Corporation, more funds were allocated to Amma restaurants. But, looking at the current Amma restaurants, people feel that the funds allocated for Amma restaurants have been diverted. Commenting on this, the officials say that such a situation exists before the year 2021, a report will be received and funds will be allocated for it. Two years after the DMK came to power, it is clear that tamil Nadu has an incompetent government to see such a response from the officials.

"On behalf of the All india Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, I request the DMK government to take steps to eliminate the shortage of staff, lack of funds and lack of supplies in Amma restaurants, keeping in mind the welfare of the poor people," he said.
