The canal flows through Nallur and Padiyanallur panchayats to join Puzhal lake. people have been dumping garbage in areas such as the banks of this canal that joins Puzhal Lake, Atthangankal under Nallur Municipality, Marutubandyar nagar Extension.

Due to the fact that the people are throwing garbage despite the instructions of the panchayat administration, the garbage dumped along the banks of the canal is being burnt from time to time by the panchayat administration. Due to this, Chennai's drinking water supply is affected and there is a risk of health problems. The concerned authorities should take appropriate measures to prevent this. He said this.

An official of the Water Resources Department said, "People should avoid activities such as littering, dumping waste along the banks of the canal, realizing that the water going from Cholavaram Lake to Puzhal Lake through the canal can meet Chennai's drinking water needs.

Appropriate action will be taken by Nallur panchayat and Cholavaram panchayat union officials to remove the garbage dumped along the banks of the canal from Cholavaram lake to Puzhal lake and to stop the dumping of garbage by the public," he said.
