Urge Karnataka to provide Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu immediately

Water Resources minister Durai Murugan met Union Water Resources minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and demanded that the karnataka government should immediately provide water from Cauvery to tamil Nadu. minister Durai Murugan personally met Union Water Resources minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat today in delhi to demand immediate delivery of water from Cauvery to tamil Nadu. He also presented a petition insisting that the Meketatu dam should not be built.

In this regard, the tamil Nadu government issued a press release: "Till june and July 3, tamil Nadu should have received 12,213 tmc feet of water. However, so far only 2,993 tmc feet of water has been received. There is a shortage of 9,220 tmc feet of water. As a result, all the crops grown in the Cauvery Delta will dry up.

Therefore, it is the responsibility of the Cauvery Water Management Authority to ensure immediate delivery of the appropriate allocation water to tamil Nadu by the karnataka government as per the supreme court order. Therefore, the Water Resources minister of the Union government has requested the karnataka government to urge the Cauvery Water Management Authority to immediately release the appropriate allocation water to tamil Nadu.

Following this, the Union minister called the Joint Secretary to the Union government and instructed him to consult with the Cauvery Water Management Authority in this regard and take immediate action."
