Manipur Violence: Atmosphere of resentment...

The small indian state of Manipur has been engulfed in ethnic conflict as the two largest groups, the majority Meitei and the minority Kuki, fight for control of territory and influence.

What did chief minister N Biren Singh say?

N. Biren Singh, the state's chief minister, described the occurrence as inhumane and argued that those responsible should be executed. According to him, this is a crime against humanity, and his government won't keep quiet about it. To find other criminals connected to the incident, authorities have been ordered to launch a large search operation.

Governor gave these instructions

Anusuiya Uike, the governor of Manipur, met with the state's DGP on thursday to discuss the incident and gave them instructions to quickly arrest all of the suspects and give the victims security. Along with this, he questioned the DGP about why no action was taken at the police station where the incident's complaint had been filed. He argued that everyone should stand up and present their demands since only through conversation could a solution be achieved. Violence serves no one's interests.

PM Modi gave a statement

PM Modi spoke about what had occurred to the daughters of Manipur before the start of the monsoon session of Parliament. Its perpetrators will never be pardoned. My heart is overflowing with hurt and rage. Any civilised community will be embarrassed by this episode. How many sinners are there, and who are they? They are at their location, but the entire nation is being insulted, the prime minister remarked. 140 crore citizens are embarrassed. I want to reassure my people that no criminal will escape punishment.
