General Curriculum in Higher Education Sector: EPS Condemns DMK Govt

S Venkateshwari
Leader of the Opposition Edappadi Palaniswami has said that the general curriculum should not be implemented in the higher education sector without consulting the academics.
In this regard, the leader of opposition Edappadi Palaniswami issued a statement, "During the 31-year rule of All india Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, which was started by MGR, nurtured by jayalalithaa and supported by crores of volunteers like me, tamil Nadu stood tall in the field of education.
In particular, the student enrollment in higher education which was 25 percent in 2011 under the DMK regime, then grew to 51 percent in the 10-year period of the congress rule, making it an example and a flagship state in the field of higher education in India.
In the Alangola government run by the DMK rulers for the past two years, the education sector has deteriorated and the educationists are crying tears. The higher education sector in tamil Nadu has gone to the bottom because the minister Ponmudi has forgotten that he was an educationist and is not concerned about the development of the higher education sector which can determine the future of the youth of tamil Nadu.
From the current academic year, the government has ordered that all universities in tamil Nadu should implement the same syllabus. The professors and college management have strongly opposed this decision of the DMK government. There are fears that the quality of higher education in tamil Nadu will be called into question by the hastily created and hastily imposed general curriculum.
Educationists have warned that the common curriculum will reduce the quality of tamil Nadu's higher education and will lead to the loss of the autonomous status granted to higher education institutions by the university Grants Commission for over 45 years. It is painful that tamil Nadu Higher education Department has become trapped by hypocritical Dravidian model rulers and has become like a tree caught in the hands of a monkey.
Therefore, before bringing any changes in the education sector, I urge this vidya DMK government to invite genuine educationists without party bias and implement the higher education policy keeping in mind the welfare of the future youth of tamil Nadu."
