10,000 electric buses in 169 cities-cabinet approval!!!
A major initiative to promote electric mobility in public transport, the "PM E-Bus Seva" project, which will see over 10,000 new electric buses distributed around the country, was authorised by the Union cabinet on Wednesday. Anurag Thakur, a Union minister, announced the approval of PM E-Bus Seva at a briefing on the Union Cabinet's actions. There would be a cost of Rs. 57,613 crores. In the entire country, there will be around 10,000 new electric buses.
Thakur claims that 100 of the 169 cities would be included in the initiative, which was initiated after taking the environment and the needs of both the present and the future transportation systems into account. This will considerably enhance green mobility, in his opinion. The minister claimed that the federal government would provide extra buses to states that discard their old buses. He said that open bidding would be used to buy, operate, and manage these buses under a PPP model. He stated that throughout a ten-year period, private players will receive centralised support for each mile in the curriculum.
