Manipur Violence: Video of a Burning Man appears...?
The number of violent occurrences in Manipur has not decreased even after five months. In the meantime, a statewide viral video showed a person being burned alive. This allegedly involved the burning to death of a Meitei youth in the Kuki-dominated Kangpokpi neighborhood. The administration looked into the viral video after learning about it on Sunday, october 8, and determined that it was from May 4, before the unrest had even begun. The event is related to the earlier viral video of two Kuki women, according to kuldeep Singh, security advisor to the Manipur government, who was speaking at a press conference in Imphal, the state's capital. These are the same ladies who, during the caste conflict, were kidnapped by a group, had their clothing taken off, and had sexual assaults made against them. What is in the video? This Manipur-related viral video lasts for seven seconds. A person is seen in this seven-second video sporting a black shirt. He is lying close to barbed wires with burns on part of his body and injury marks on his head from the mob's hitting him. The people gathered around him are shouting. The background noise of the throng includes the sounds of gunfire. However, it is very impossible to tell from this video if the victim was burned while still alive or if he was burned after his death. When the authorities looked into this viral video, they discovered that the victim of the assault was Laldinthanga Khongsai, a 37-year-old man who lived in the village of Paokongching in the Kangpokpi district.
