Does bringing back David cameron put Rishi Sunak in trouble?

Following the latest UK cabinet reshuffle, UK prime minister Rishi Sunak appears to have found himself in a pickle after appointing former PM David cameron as the foreign secretary. Sunak also removed vocal right-wing british Home Secretary Suella Braverman and appointed james Cleverly in her place. A number of Conservatives have questioned Sunak's political direction in light of the move. Some viewed the action as Rishi Sunak's potential ideological shift, while others aimed to oust Sunak from office before of the UK general elections in 2025.

It's time for Rishi Sunak, the leader of the Conservative party, to step down, declared Andrea Jenkyns, the leader of the Conservative party, in her "vote of no confidence letter." She wrote on X, saying, "It's enough. It's time for Rishi Sunak to step down and be replaced by a "genuine" leader of the Conservative party."

Was Rishi Sunak threatened by the "no confidence letter"?

According to a Tory lawmaker, Sunak will be safe unless the right can come together in support of a candidate, as reported by Bloomberg. "And at that point, they would have difficulty to get rid of the premier in a confidence vote," said the newspaper. According to Bloomberg, between 80 and 100 MPs in the party are thought to be right-wing Sunak skeptics. They are divided into factions, with that estimate comprising just approximately 10 who are primarily devoted to Braverman and 50 who are firmly supporting Truss, the article continued. To put the prime minister to a vote on his leadership, 53 MPs would need to sign letters of no confidence in him. This is in accordance with party regulations.
