According to an Israeli military official, the tankers carried a total of 60,000 liters of diesel fuel and were authorized for use by international organizations, primarily the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). To sustain life-saving functions, UNRWA and other humanitarian organizations require at least 120,000 liters (31,700 gallons) of water every day.
2. The Israeli military said on friday that it may extend its onslaught on Hamas to southern Gaza, where hundreds of thousands of people have fled the current violence in the region's north.
