Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse - Rescue team considering manual drilling option
On friday morning, the Uttarkashi underground rescue effort to extract 41 personnel continued. Due of an impediment, the drilling by the American-made auger equipment to rescue the trapped miners was interrupted shortly after it began. The rescue crew is currently considering using manual drilling; however, if this alternative is adopted, the rescue operation may take longer. Due to a late-night technical problem, the drilling was again halted for many hours on Thursday.
