He has worked as an assistant director in many films directed by director Vasant, including Poovellam Ketipar, and Rytham. An ardent fan of Vijayakanth from the beginning, he got an opportunity to write a verse in devan starring Vijayakanth. Vijayakanth was impressed by his popular dialogues and he asked Velu Mani to write dialogues for films like Engal Aasan and Vridhakiri. Through this, a good friendship was formed between the two.
Not only cinema, but Vijayakanth also consulted Velu Mani about politics and speaking on political platforms. He got the love of Vijayakanth and met him several times even when his body was weak and retired. At this moment, when the scandalous news about Vijayakanth was spreading, he was very worried thinking about it.
Velumani, who had not eaten properly and was found mentally confused, died of a sudden heart attack this morning.
It is said that Velumani, who was living unmarried, lived in the house of her brother and sister. His last rites are said to be held in his hometown Cuddalore.
