AP Polls - EC Cancels Double Votes

SIBY JEYYA
Now that the telangana polls are over, the emphasis has switched to the andhra pradesh elections, which are just around the corner. In the context of the ap polls, the election commission issued a fresh decision regarding the cancellation of the state's double votes. There have been complaints to the ec about persons voting twice where they had voter cards in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore, as well as in AP. This resulted in multiple voting, in which individuals voted in other states and then came to ap to vote.

The ec has now issued a fresh instruction to district collectors, instructing them to collect declaration papers from voters, stating that they have just one right and no voting rights in any other ap state. If it is discovered that the voter holds other state voter cards in addition to the ap, legal action will be taken against him/her. The european Commission has made it quite clear that multiple voting is illegal, and anyone caught doing so will data-face legal penalties.

Now that the telangana elections are done and dusted, the focus has shifted to the andhra pradesh elections which are not too far from now. In the context of ap polls, the election commission has passed a new order, regarding the cancelation of the double votes in the state.
