Big Challenge for Revanth Reddy!
The aggregate indebtedness of the electricity industry was Rs 81,000 crore, with Discoms incurring losses of Rs 50,000 crore. Loan interest and principal payments totaled Rs 1,300 crore each month. tsspdcl and TSNPDCL, in particular, are in financial trouble, having amassed Rs 30,406 crore in short-term loans. These enterprises have sustained enormous losses of Rs 50,275 crore since the state's creation in 2014-15.
The presentation also highlighted the agricultural sector, which is provided with energy in two daily 6-hour installments. While free power may appear to be helpful to the public in the short term, its long-term viability must be carefully considered. It would be fascinating to observe how revanth reddy implements this free power proposal without putting the government under financial strain. With Discoms owing hundreds of crores, the congress administration will data-face a difficult task in providing 200 units of free energy.
For effective energy policy, revanth reddy must establish a balanced strategy that addresses cost while encouraging energy conservation and sustainability.
