Reportedly amid calls for retirement and age digs from the fraternity, nationalist congress party chief sharad pawar on sunday said that he has not grown old and is still capable of “setting some people straight.” Meanwhile the veteran maharashtra leader made an aggressive speech against his critics who continue to take digs at his age during a local event at Charkoli in Pune’s Haveli tehsil.“I have a complaint against you. All of you in your speeches keep stressing I am 83 years old, I am 84 years old. What have you seen? I have not become old. I have the power to straighten some people out. Don’t you worry,” PTI quoted Pawar as saying at a bullock car race competition. Meanwhile Pawar’s remarks are being seen as a strong response to his critics, including nephew ajit pawar, who after splitting with the ncp said that “Sharad Pawar was too old and considering his age, sharad pawar should now take up the role of political advisor.”Earlier, Pawar’s close friend and Serum Institute’s chairman Cyrus Poonawalla also said, “Sharad Pawar missed out on two opportunities to become the Prime Minister. He is now getting old, like me, and should retire.” Moreover the sharad pawar led ncp split on July 2 this year after nephew ajit pawar and eight other MLAs joined the Eknath Shinde government. During the event, the ncp supremo also slammed the central government for imposing a ban on onion exports and said the government is trying to add to the problems of farmers instead of helping them. Also one of India’s most experienced lawmakers in the present times, sharad pawar, has served as a chief minister of maharashtra and Union minister. He recently celebrated his 83rd birthday in Nagpur.
