Telangana Hyderabad - Around 3K Booked for Drunk Driving, 85% Aged 21-40
According to the police, 2,485 of the 2,971 breaches were on two-wheelers, with 1,066 violations registered in the hyderabad commissionerate and 938 and 431 violations reported in Cyberabad and Rachakonda, respectively. In the hyderabad zone, there were 135 four-wheeler infractions, with 275 — the most of the three — in Cyberabad and 76 in Rachakonda.
"City police booked a total of 1,243 people, including two women," said hyderabad police commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy. Cyberabad police arrested 1,241 people, including two women, while Rachakonda police arrested 517 intoxicated drivers."
According to the police, all intoxicated drivers were brought in court when chargesheets were filed, and their driver's licences were taken and delivered to the relevant RTAs for suspension, in accordance with Section 19 of the Motor vehicles Act, 1988.
Cyberabad police commissioner avinash Mohanty stated, "With the extensive enforcement and traffic and road safety plans implemented by Cyberabad traffic police, there were no major road accidents anywhere in Cyberabad."
"In view of the long weekend, the special focus on drunk driving will continue in Cyberabad limits to ensure road safety as part of our zero-tolerance policy," stated Mr. Singh.
According to a news release, the Cyberabad police department also sent New Year congratulations to people, urging them not to engage in harmful activities on the roadways for the sake of everyone's safety.
"We will continue the drunk driving checks and pub raids to identify places where drugs are involved," said Rachakonda police commissioner G. Sudheer Babu. This year, we intend to work with both commissionerates to remove the drug issue."
