'Merry Christmas,' starring vijay sethupathi and katrina kaif, will be released in theatres on january 12. The film is a bilingual Tamil-Hindi production directed by sriram Raghavan. A reporter asked vijay sethupathi a loaded question at a news conference in chennai on january 7. He said that tamil Nadu's politics had been based on opposing hindi for 75 years. He went on to say that even today, many people wear t-shirts that say 'Hindi theriyadhu poda' (I don't know Hindi).
"Hindi as a language was never opposed," vijay sethupathi interrupted. The reporter probed him further, asking if the language should be learned. "I remember you asking the same question to Aamir Khan," the actor said. Why are you asking this question over and over? We never turned down Hindi. We oppose the imposition of Hindi. There is a distinction between the two. Nobody is opposed to people studying hindi here. Your question is incorrect and irrelevant. Nobody is preventing anyone from studying Hindi. PTR (Minister Thyagarajan) has also offered an explanation for this, which you can see here."
