The amazon forests, renowned for their mysterious and unexplored nature, have revealed another secret—a once-thriving ancient city. Despite technological advancements, these vast forests remain largely unknown, concealing numerous secrets that continue to astonish. In a recent revelation, scientists have identified an ancient city within the amazon, specifically in Ecuador.

The city, believed to have flourished around 2000 years ago, has long faded into obscurity. Archaeologists made this significant discovery after closely examining the area, with details published in the journal Science. The initial identification of mounds and buried roads in this region dates back two decades when scientist stephen Rostine first noticed them. However, it was not until 2015, when the area underwent laser technology analysis, that the existence of an entire city was uncovered.

The settlement, estimated to have been inhabited between 500 bc and AD 300-600, was a complex network of around 6,000 houses and buildings. The laser technology also revealed the presence of agricultural fields in proximity to these settlements. The road network connecting the settlements measured approximately 20 kilometres, with widths reaching up to 33 feet. Scientists believe that this ancient city supported a population ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 people.

Antoine Dorison, one of the researchers, estimates that the city disappeared around 1,000 years ago, adding another layer to the enigmatic history of the amazon forests. This discovery underscores the hidden complexities of the natural world, reminding humanity of the vast knowledge and unexplored realms that continue to exist within the Amazon.
